Elon Musk in one of the discussions during Neuro link based on neural lace technology told ” We’re already a cyborg just that the powering device is outside our body”
Let’s dissect, what he actually meant. Cyborg is a pop culture word used in the sci-fi literature and movies which means — “a creature whose physical and mental abilities are far beyond human due to mechanical and electronic element inserted in them”.
Cyborg depicted in Justice League film
If you wanna know whether you’re already a cyborg or not– just do this small test of forgetting your mobile at home. You feel you’re totally incomplete having lost something because you’ve harnessed the powers of it in your daily lives. This is exactly what Elon Musk meant!
The very purpose of coming up with neural lace backed “Neurolink” was to implant the powerful technology which we’re using outside the human body, on the brain as a microchip. The underlying motivation was also because we’re output bound as we take in the huge amount of input through our visual interface but produce a very low output through speech and typing. If an implant can be inserted into our brain by marrying both our biological and artificial intelligence we can go miles ahead than A.I backed machines.
All our thoughts can directly be stored in the cloud. We can also retrieve huge amounts information within no time from the internet through the microchip implanted on our cortex layer. Eventually, this would put a huge full stop to our low output rate which is the main reason of why we’re far behind than A.I. in progress.
